Does plaquenil cause weight loss or weight gain

Aug 01, 2009 Lucy, meds effect us all differently. Almost any med that can cause weight loss can also cause weight gain. I also find that eating a lot of carbohydrates helps with the GI effects of the plaq and that can contribute to weight gain. I was on Plaquenil for 2 yrs and gained 60 pounds. Hence, if the loss of appetite and weight loss started after you started on this drug, then yes, it could be due to Plaquenil. However, if you had loss of appetite and weight loss before your started this drug, then the drug can aggravate the process. In this case, the cause of loss f appetite and weight loss has to be found. Plaquenil and Weight loss - from FDA reports Summary Weight loss is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 50-59 old, have been taking the drug for 5 - 10 years, also take medication Enbrel, and have Pain.

She tried to put me on it two years ago even before she diagnosed me because she has always suspected lupus. Anyway, I'm scared to death to take plaquenil but I know that I probably should.
